[This comes some time (shortly) after their other conversation about future-talk. She uses a letter as it was sort of a last-minute thing and Velvet uses the messenger birds at the airship port to send a message.]

I'm going to be away from Verens for a while. Some group is off trying to fix Elios with hatred and I've decided to tag along to see it for myself. Not sure when I'll be back but I'll let you know when I am.

Velvet

[She sounds tired... not tired - exhausted, mentally and physically and emotionally. Like she might sleep for a week.]

I'm back and before you ask, I'm fine. Now I'm going to sleep. [Because she hasn't done that yet what with dealing with the aftermath and everything.] I'll see you tomorrow, Phi.

[With Eleanor currently crystallized, it's kind of the perfect time for this. She won't be able to complain about what's about to happen. It also means that Velvet has basically been living with Phi rather than in her own cheap apartment.]

So, it's about time we go claim our ship. We'll need a couple of extra hands if we're going to take over a pirate ship.

[What with Eizen gone now and basically the rest of their group too.]

[Baby malak is getting a note from Edna!

He also gets a book of adventure stories, because that seems like a thing baby malaks might like?? She's bad at this.]

[It's the night before Christmas and a man in red has come to Laphi's residence bearing gifts! It's rather late at night, when people should be asleep when he does this though, as he's not supposed to get caught. He'll leave a present, already wrapped up by the previous donators, with a tag included saying "From Santa".

His gift is a stuffed animal, a blue and white sweater and an "educational" (smutty) book, courtesy of Hunk, Mrs. Bradley and Milla Maxwell.

With his his task complete, he'll soon disappear into the night...

OOC: If you do not want Laphicet to have the questionable book, you can replace it with a toy boat.]

[Merry Santamas, Phi! Asbel's sending a fluffy blue scarf and a box of mabo curry buns for him to share with his friends.]

[One day Phi will wake up and see a few wrapped presents, first is a set of blank journals that he can write in. Next is a brand new compass that's far smaller than the ones they know back home. The last gift is actually four books - two adventures and two history books (ones about this world, of course).

All of them are signed: From Velvet and on the same day they will be having mabo curry as their main dish as well.]

[ Laphicet is getting spoiled with christmas cookies, christmas brownies and a familiarly designed white, blue and yellow scarf, like his default outfit, that is paired with Velvet's own.

There's also an additional gift from Sorey and Mikleo both, a copy of the Celestial Record to have as his own. There's comments and remarks from both nerds here and there when it comes to some details concerning the ruins etc. They.. got a little too excited when making the copy. ]

[A little late, but it's the thought that counts, right? Sync decides on getting Phi some sweets, along with one of Gale's old scales, polished up so it shines bright. He leaves them at Phi's home, with a note]

Sorry it's a little late, but I got you something for this whole holiday thing going. Try not to eat the sweets all at once, Velvet will kill me.

[ At some point, within a day or so after they talk about it, a stuffed animal — a nice fluffy teddy bear with a blue ribbon tied neatly around its neck — is left sitting at the door of Laphicet's residence. There's just a simple note on it, written in neat handwriting that says: "For Laphicet." ]

Suzaku isn't sure what are all the things that Laphicet likes, not really, but with the knowledge that he likes petting the cat, he came with the thought of sending over a soft throw blanket and matching pillow for those long winter nights. Pirate ships or couch, they should be nice, right?

Phi, have you thought about what day you want to celebrate your birthday and where to go? There's only a month and a half until spring starts.

[It's been a busy week - Zaveid was working as many hours as Eikichi needed him at the spa. It's not like he had the same needs as any of the human employees, after all. Not that he enjoyed working that many hours, but it was to help a friend who was clearly in dire need.

Phi had returned home and lived more of his life while Zaveid was away. Enough of it that as much as Zaveid missed the kid, the idea of dealing with any emotional topics that might come up in their reunion after a long day of hard work was unappealing. However, today is his first day off since he started working again and thus is the perfect opportunity to catch up with him.

On the way, Zaveid stops past From the Hearth and grabs some mabo curry to go as a gift to make up for not seeing him the day he arrived. A quick bit of reading the wind and some windstepping, and he's standing in front of Phi with a big grin on his face.]

[Said as though Phi wasn't aware of how he found him.]

[Velvet's come over for breakfast today.]

Hey, I know it's early and you haven't decided on a date to celebrate yet but I got you a present.

[She holds out a basket with a lid. Inside is a silver chicobo with a light blue ribbon tied loosely around its neck and also some paper with a list of important information - food, care and other basic things for taking care of a growing bird.]

Happy birthday, Phi. You'll have to think up a good name for him.
