Malakhim Permissions and Visibility.

In canon, only people with a higher level of what is called resonance, like a spiritual sense, can see/hear seraphim/malakhim in Tales of Zestiria and Tales of Berseria. This will follow through in Laphicet's time in Empatheias. What does this mean? Well, certain characters will be able to see/hear him just fine.

- Laphicet is aligned with Peromei, so any characters under that same alignment will see and hear him just fine!
- If a character isn't human, they will be able to see and hear him as well.
- There's also the option of building up the ability to see/hear Laphicet through gaining cr with him.
- Human characters with a particular affinity for spiritual power could potentially see/hear him and the other seraphim as well.

Basically, I'm using the same sort of rules that the Zestiria seraphim have been going with in determining who can see/hear Laphicet. If you have any questions, just let me know and I can figure an answer on whether a character could see/hear him.

Question on the seeing thing for your cool nerd - what about people with Personas? 'Cause technically they're human, but they have a thing called a persona (or personas) which is literally a part of themselves that can be summoned.

... So it's kind of spiritual or magical??

Okay, so. With checking with others in the cast more canon familiar since I haven't yet played or watched Persona and am only vaguely aware of it myself, and that's kind of complicated because. Personas. And different types, specifically. Because apparently that is also a thing that can potentially factor on whether they reckon someone with a Persona could see/hear seraphim/malakhim.

From what they said, they think it'd make sense for Shinjiro's case to be to communicate via the amulet or through Sorey helping because that's part of his thing as Shepherd and Laphicet's vessel, Eleanor, isn't shown to have that ability in Berseria.

It's also a matter of alignment - Laphicet is with Peromei so anyone, even humans, under that can see and hear him just fine! I'm not sure which you've gone with for Shinjiro.

Which doesn't mean they can't get cr if he's with a different alignment. He can still react to Laphicet's effects on the environment or through the amulet regardless!

Yeah! I didn't even consider the whole Persona type thing, actually, but that makes sense. Given Shinjiro's leans more towards the physical aspect, and generally speaking I was going to just default to where he can't see any of them to begin with.

Though it was a question that I felt needed to be ask, just in case I was wrong - 'cause I know nothing about the Tales series, sadly, but the characters have always looked super interesting to me! But I'll keep that in mind - he's also Daimonia, sadly, so that's out of the question as well, haha.

Yeah, from what I gathered of it, that seemed to make sense to me at least. There's never any harm in checking about it though, to be sure! It's my first time dealing with a character like this, so I'm still figuring and needing to check with other more canon familiar people within the cast for some characters myself.

With Tales, it's only Zestiria and Berseria that deal with the seraphim/malakhim though, the others are set in different worlds with other characters and settings. Just that Berseria is essentially a prequel with Zestiria set in the same world so they link together and have similarities.

Hello! I don't know how familiar you are with ffxv, but I believe the Zestiria cast has been going with people who have the same power set/sensitivities as Ardyn as being able to see seraphim. Is it cool with you to extend that to Laphicet?

Ah, yes! I'm basically using the same sort of ideas/rules as the Zestiria cast with who can see/hear Laphicet as well. I have FFXV on the list to get and play at some point at least. But if Ardyn can see/hear the other seraphim due to powers or such then it should also apply for Laphicet too!

Sorry for the delay on our thread! Also, I'm thinking maybe Vincent can hear but not see him? I think he falls in the last category, unless spiritual power means something religious.^^;

No rush! And no, it doesn't need to be religious in the sense of having a spiritual power. It could be the matter in more supernatural than religious and it could still work in whether or not humans could see/hear malakhim/seraphim.

I can double check if others in the Zestiria/Berseria cast are also familiar with Pandora Hearts? But imo from what I recall (it has been a while! But I do have an Oz account.) that sounds about right to me since I know Vincent in particular has his Thing going on.

Ah, 'supernatural' was the word I was looking for. I'm not sure how far you got with PH and don't want to spoil you, but Vincent definitely has an affinity towards the supernatural, even more so than some of the PH characters heavily involved in the plotline. But since he's so young in the canon point I took him from, we'll just go with him hearing but not seeing then. Thank you very much!^_^

Yeah! I have read all of it, it has just been a while since it finished and I haven't yet managed to do a reread (plus only having the first volume officially yet). But I think that could work! Vincent is not the only one who can hear them but not see them.
